  • Animation Shots from The Chronicles of Nerm

Here are a few final renders from actual shots from my film I've been working on for a few years now, 'The Chronicles of Nerm.' For the past several years, I've been creating the sets (six) and characters (twelve) for the film, and after getting all of my audio recorded, I've just begun animating the ten minute film! These shots are from the actual animation, the entire film will be of this quality, or better (I hope!).

I feel incredibly lucky to have the amazing voice cast that signed onto my film, it's been an absolute dream come true:

Nerm: Alex Mentzel - You can see Alex in 'Feast of Love' where he plays Greg Kinnear's nephew as well as in many advertisements and plays.

Targ: Marc Graue - Marc owns a famous recording studio in LA. You can see him on VH1s 'Free Radio' and his voice in cartoons and games like World of Warcraft.

Ky: Zoe Bell - Famed stuntwoman-turned actor Zoe Bell played a lead in Quinten Tarantino's 'Death Proof' (Grindhouse) and ABCs Lost.

The Guard: Shelly Lipkin - Shelly has been on numerous TV shows and films over the years, including Laverne and Shirley, Lois and Clark and The Fugitive.

Keena: Mylisha Hood - This is Mylisha's first acting work, and she did a fantastic job!

I don't know where to start... When I first heard about this movie I was of course very sceptical. These are the sort of projects that never see the light of day. But over the years you've proved me wrong. From time to time I've seen updates like these and I'm really glad that it actually has started to come together.

The characters look awesome and Nerm is instant likeable. The quality of these shots are of absolutly top notch. Something a big studio with a big budget would do. But you're doing a one man show. That's mighty impressive to have that kind of committment and patiance.

I wish you the best of luck during the animation stage and I'm really looking forward to watching the finished movie.

This is what Rustboy should've been.

        Chris,

This is just a superb stuff. I saw some previous previews and can't wait to see finished product. When you say "I'm working on it", does that imply that you are the only one doing the whole thing (in which case I'd like to refere to you as the "DaVinci Chris") or you are directing the whole thing and have some asistants?
In any case it's a great project and you're doing great job. Keep it up, mate.

I guarantee this project will be finished. I have a lot invested into it!

It's a completely solo project. Aside from the voice talent, I'm doing it all myself (writing, directing, modelling, texturing, animating, ect)

          Thanks for the comments guys.

You get an 'awesome' from me. Everything is spot on. The character in the first image has so much expression on his face.

Real impressed you got Zoe Bell onboard! Most kiwi chicks are built like the front row of the all blacks so seeing Zoe kickin ass and riding on the bonet (hood) of a car makes her super hot. Also not many kiwis out there doing character voice overs and her rise to fame is cool to follow. If you've got any photos form the job, get em up!

Cant wait for the final animation!

music is half the movie...don't skimp on the sound track...I've seen movies where if the sound track wasn't what it was, the movie would have sunk. (Example...A Beautiful Mind)

Thanks for the nice comments everyone. Getting Zoe as a cast member was a dream come true. She did a fantastic job, and she couldn't have been a nicer, more down to earth person.
