  • Please help!

Hey vray-ers, from time to time this happens to me and I am wondering if anyone here can help me figure it out. Notice in the image there are "spots" "blotchies" all over the floor. Everything else is super clean except these blotchies. Any ideas?

    Settings:
    AA:
Adaptive DMC 1/32 (use DMC sampler checked)
    VrayLancos Filter
ColorMapping 2.2 (don't affect colors checked)
    GI:
    Irradiance (medium preset) 50/20 subdivs
seconday = Lightcache 1000 subdivs sample size .02
    DMC Sampler:
    Adaptive Amount 1.0
    Noise thresh .001

    No HDRI maps used.
I do have maps on some of the vray lights. Light subdivs are 16
I have tried upping the irradiance to high and it makes the spots tighter but doesn't remove them.

    Thanks for your help.

Im no expert but id raise the LC sample size, mine for internals is usually 22mm set to world with Interp on 20.

Do me a favor and change your adaptive amount to .9 and your noise threshold to .01 and see if that clears it right up.

Jonferimonic: that worked to clear up the splotches...

MoonDoggie: Yeah the problem now with the adaptive set to .9 and the noise thresh set to .1 is that I am going to have noise in the image. It's all lit with vray lights and GI. It did smooth out the "blotchy"-ness on the floor though. But I noticed way more noise.

Thank you guys for the help.

No worries, I've noticed lately that a highly adaptive amount doesn't like imap very much though a value of 1.0 is great for brute force. I've kept my adaptive amount pretty low for all my imap renderings, I haven't seen any time increase, and the quality is better.

My suggestion it's that you can enable Pre-filter with number of 100 in lightcache to correct this kind of problem

Your floor is sucking up all your light energy. You'll need much more samples which will bounce around:

                  Try this:
                  Irr Maps -6/-2
                  Hsp100/20 or even 200/20
Colour/normal/etc..... trashhold as per high preset
                  Hope this helps
