  • HD interior animation

Well, I finally am getting this up. Every time I compressed with Quicktime there's gamma issues (even on a Mac).

This is a project from a few years ago that I went back into to cleanup and redo in HD for our demo reel. Check it out and I'd love to hear your comments/crits:

I really like this. I don't see many animations done with the fish-eye type effect on it, I think you've just enough there to be not too in your face and still look good.

    Cool!

Crits - why don't you plaster it full of RPC's. lol, of course not. I'd like to see some of the other shots. As it stands though this is spot on, I think anyway!

Other shots are coming.... lots of cleanup work (I've basically redesigned the space to make it look good). The other two shots will be a zoom and a daylight sequence, both looking the other way.

And of course rendertime at this rez is slooooooooow

Nice! Those burnouts are killing me though.

Get another 3/4 shots, same kind of slow pans and some detail ones in over some good music and it's perfect.

It's very good, but too short to stand up on it's own...

                  very nice.
Maybe its a bit too soft focus for my liking. It looks like you have just rendered it at a lower res and scaled it!

How long are the render times?

                      Rendertimes were about 2-3 hrs/frame on 2.6GHz Core2duo machines (I think)

I'm guessing that's a combination of the specular bloom and the compression. I really struggled with balancing the contrast in the scene (would have liked a lot more of that clean look).

Yep, this will be pieced together with 2 more shots of this project, and a bunch of other projects for our reel. We're not planning to produce a piece of just this project though.

                            Nice!

You could add some life in the shadows and trees by animating the trees slightly.

To me, this could be blown up SD the way you treated it.
Softfocus doesnt look filmstock, more like enhansed DV..To much softening overall.
..or scale SD and save time!

I did try animating the trees, but it caused bad GI problems, and animated VRay proxies were way too large in file size. I'll see what I can do about reducing the bloom so it doesn't look scaled up.
