  • Short Film - Sonata in Motion

    Hi!

I would like to present our first short film, "Sonata in Motion" (2007) which I had the pleasure to codirect. It was finished in 2007, but now that the festival season is over for us, i feel free to post it online. It all began as a way to find sponsors for Eva Ledesma, an exceptional triathlete who is, at the same time, a great pianist. Inspired by some ads from sports-focused brands, we tried to create a piece which would follow the natural flow of a triathlon, showing the contrast between this extremely demanding sport and the delicacy of piano playing. The shooting was about 4 days and, being it a low-budget project, I created most of the effects you can see in the movie. Postproduction took about 4 months in my spare time, involving 3D animation and compositing. The movie was shot with a DVCPRO 50 4:2:2 camera and I used 3Dsmax, particle flow and vray for the 3D part and Combustion for the compositing. "Sonata in motion" has received several awards and the experience has been extremely rewarding. It has also helped us to gather funds to shoot our next project in October.

    Hope you like it!

Thanks! The team worked hard, and, although we faced some bad weather conditions, everyone was commited and we managed to go through all difficulties.

Thanks for your comments zoran! We tried to do our best as directors, and, although the main character is not an actress, i think we managed to get a consistent performance throughout the film.
