  • Holiday resort in Zanzibar

    Hi
Here are some images of a holiday resort in Zanzibar.
The architecture is quite simple as the exisiting places there.
Looks awesome there- sandy beaches, clear blue water, lush vegetation.
We might be working on some interior visuals and animations at some stage.
    c & c welcome.

That sand is killing what would be a really really great set of images. Use some mix maps and get some variation in there. I'd still go there even if the sand was like that....

Agree with dellis, a mix is the way to go, it will solve your repeat issues. Also, you may wish to spend some time on your timber textures, and possibly rotate some of the palms, so that it isn't as obvious you are using the same model. But that place looks like a pretty sweet place to be!

Lighting and composition look good. I think that the materials need some work as well as the scale and placement of some of your entourage.

The water and modelling is ok but the rest is, well, awful. Go look at reference images!

              thanks for the replies
yeah, textures are an aspect which really make a big difference to a scene. something i'm working on improving on scenes.

i'll try mixing the materials with a vray blend material- just need to find some maps to try it out with.
i also used a vray displacement modifier on the sand, but it was crashing when the scene got larger.
i'm working on another project close to the beach , so i'll try develop a better sand material on this one.

yeah, the trees and vegetation aren't as developed as they could be.
i was using rpc trees. have some really nice tropical ones, but i rendered the scene with a vrayphysical camera, and vray sun, and the rpc trees came out black. any ideas as to why this happened?

                relatively limited time on project.
might develop it some more if we get to do interior, or animations on the project.

rpcs dont work well with vray.

your last two images are not bright enough either, need to adjust the camera settings.

                      looks promising though

i think if you split up the ground a bit more and have a few planted areas here and there, some paths or whatever is proposed that it will look nice. If there is no choice, then i would consider changing camera angles to take the focus off the areas that are a bit lacking.

Id suggest investing in evermotion plants. Pick out the ones you like and turn them into vray proxies, then you can basically chuck unfinate numbers of plants in this scene of a higher quality than the RPC ones you have used.

Small amount of post processing on teh last two images will help a lot. Even just to add some brightness/contrast to get them to similar levels as the first two images would help.

IMO your problem is almost entirely libraries, more investment there will help a lot

HI, nice images globaly, just need to work the materials a little more (somes leaves on trees are just squares...), try some bump, roughness, speculars...., but even if they look a little like mariokart Wii renders, which might be cool too, they are refreshing so keep going.
