  • Small house exterior

    Hi everyone,

I have been around the forums for a while commenting on others work, but have never posted anything of my own.

    So here goes!

This was a small project to visualize a prefabricated home. The brief was to visualize the home in a New Zealand environment. We also produced a series of shots from daytime to night to add a dynamic element to the final website image.

    here: http://www.modushomes.co.nz/

Wait and watch the image change from day to night.

    CC welcome!

    Cheers,
    Tim

That first image is great! Clean lines, nice framing. I think the reflections could be tweaked a bit (tiny bit of bump on there so its not so perfect). The second image also looks good, but I think it could be a bit warmer. I typically like to make the lights have a lot more orange in them in the evening/night time. Nice detailing, though!

nice images. I agree with the comment about internal lights having a more warm glow - check out some evening photo's of houses in the newspaper for a reference.

There is a few artifacts around fine lines (eg where the soffit lining hits the wall panelling) but i struggle with that one as well. Only way around it is to have crazy settings?

I like the grass/dirt border...how was that done?

                good job though

Thanks for the comments and advice!

The grass and dirt materials are a blend material, with both materials set on uvw channel 1, this is set to 1m x 1m.

Then I create an opacity map to blend the two materials together that is set to uvw map channel 2 which is equal to the landscape size.

I basically take an image landscape in plan into Photoshop, then create a black and white opacity map of where I want the grass and dirt to go.

                  Hope that makes sense!

                  Cheers,
                  Tim
