Most recent project; that hasn't been put on hold. A few of the camera views were requested by the owner for planning and zoning. This was originally just supposed to be a video; spent the weekend getting things to render for 42"x30" boards. Fun.

I wasn't happy with the groundcover, used 2D billboards with Forest, but I had to come up with something quick for the animation. I've been playing around with proxies and I'll post the current results.

The ground cover around the tree looks really nice. Is that mostly opacity maps? Looks good.

No opacity maps. Just very simple proxied geometry, randomly rotated/scaled and with about 5 material variations applied at random.

          Nice Groundcover

The pachysandra really looks very convincing. Was wondering how many tiers of leaves you used to achieve the look or if you could provide a screen shot of the geometry?

          Thanks!

            Great Work!

The first an third images are VERY nicely framed. Very cinematic! You've definitely captured a little piece of suburbia.

Thanks again sea2stars--that's a mighty healthy pachysandra. I've been wanting to develop some really good stock 3d ground cover myself to supplant some of the mediocre alternatives out there; definitely adding this to the repetoire when I get a minute. =)
