  • WIP: Defence project

    Hi all
Here is a little something I'm working on at the moment. The client already made some comments but those changes are not visible here yet. I can't say much about the project but can show you these small wip images.

EDIT: 27 January 2009, Some new images posted further down this page

    Helicopter flying very low

    Helicopter hovering over injured

    Transport plane flying

    Transport dropping relief-aid

Some guys getting ready to launch SAM7

Helicopter, transport plane and bad guys from TurboSquid.

GI - Brute force 1st and 2nd. VrayPhysCam with real 3D motion blur. Blueish Environment light and huge directional light for sun. no LWF here though. The grass in the 1st 2 images are animated waving in the wind and made with max hair and fur. (Yes I know but it was the only option at the time). Smoke and missile trail etc (not visible here) made with afterburn.
    Your comments are most welcome.

Those are looking good! Exposure and feel is spot on!

I don't have afterburn installed here but if you use regular max lights for the afterburn stuff and use vray shadows you can turn on "atmosphere shadows" under shadow parameters and it should work.

Can't wait to see the animation. The grass and trees in the first couple are a perfect match to the background.
A small comment, to define the cliff edge where the bad dudes are, maybe some rock outcrops along the edge?
      Fantastic images.

Thanks John. Also thank you for the info you gave me before I started the project. It helped a LOT!

I'll play around with the shadow settings and see what I can come up with.
        Kind Regards,
        Morne

I'm hoping to have the final animations done by end Feb. But you know clients and their changes

This scene you mention I have to rerender because of a small issue. At the same time I can look into the cliff defining. When you say "rock outcrops". you mean just put some more bigger stones and rocks there?
          Kind Regards,
          Morne
