  • exterior_how do you deal with reflections

hi, another exterior i worked on the last days.
one thing i always struggle with is glass and reflection. could you give me some sugestions how you deal with that issue?
this time i rendered the image without 3d objects behind the camera, and so only see the vray sky and the hedge in the refl. of the glass. in ps i added the silouette of the trees.
general c+c for the image welcome.

    looks great.
nice design. i like the perspective/composition. glass and reflections look good.

the reflections in the glass could maybe be a bit lighter, but refraction to less bright interior usually makes them a bit darker.

cool, just noticed the 3 people taking a look out the window nice touch.

Is there a particular reason why theres a 2m high column of grass growing out of the concrete?

@cubbiclegangster: its a reed plant in a plantpot positioned on the terrace.(needed something in the front...)
@add101: thanks so much, i am glad you like it. actually i am optimizing my work of the last weeks to make an application in offices in vienna. i hope they will like it too.

I dont think you need the reeds. You could bring that tree further left..

Also, with your reflections, you could add a slight amount of subtle noise to your planes (in material). Not had the chance to use this technique myself yet, but it does add imperfections to the glass and creates more interesting reflections.

I think also the windows should be darker...they seem way too light at the moment.
          Regards

I'd put a Curves adjustment layer on the lot and adjust it first, as looks a bit bright to me.

Reflections I've been adding a cylinder round the scene with a treemap and opacity map on that. Probably not the best solution but an idea to try. At least with that the reflections are in the right place.

Hi! Could you please explain what you did in Photoshop? I like your style.

About the original picture, I think the grass wall is out of scale.

Just as I said, A Curves adjustment layer, tweak the curves a little. Then I added a Levels adjustment layer and painted in a bit of vignetting to bring the eye into the image a little.

                    Nothing fancy going on here

I think everything looks great including the glass. The only thing that really bugs me is the foreground depth of field grass blades and plant leaves. I think they are to distracting and your image would be fine with out them.
