  • fountain montage/collage

A couple of friends won a design competition for a small plaza with a fountain. I've done a series of renderings for them, mostly basic, showing just the proposed elements.

I wanted to share this one, because i like the way it looks but I also think that there is room for improvement. What do you think about lighting just the subject? The original photo was taken earlier in the day, it was getting dark but the streetlights were still off.

    Comments are welcome.

It id quasi 3d. Very simple geometry with a photo-derived texture mapped to it. There was a lot of stuff that seemed impossible to clone out so i've resorted to this. Although, it was done kinda sloppy on this side, the other side i think it looks better:

Also, i fooled around with color saturations, and i think i took out too much blue tint from everything besides the sky, i think that's also adding to the building's 2d appearance.

yeah the daytime shot looks pretty good. took me a while to see what had been added. For me the images come up really small on imageshack - would be good to see it a bit bigger or have the camera cropped closer to the plaza itself.

I think for the evening montage you really need to get a photo of it in the evening or if that isnt possible, model it up

              Night shot

Try and light some of the rooms up, the bacony area on the top floor would probably have some downlighting and maybe some uplighting on the front of the hotel itself.
Alternatively photograph the hotel at night.
