I saw the title and it reminded me of a couple of fabulous holidays I've had recently at Finca Malvasia in Lanzarote. If any of you need a good break away from it all with lots of nice wine, here's the place: http://www.fincamalvasia.com/

Nice picture by the way! I really need another holiday in a place like that. Oh well - the joys of a credit crunch
    Kind Regards,

Cool water! Is it done with caustics or map?

        the caustics are fake.
I used a direct spot (rectangular) with a caustic projection map.

              Re

              Hi Wolfgang,

Very nice mood---for me the caustics are too much...and perhaps too big...
i think they disrupt the whole image a little bit....

              Otherwise very beautiful style

well I would say that this kind of caustics does not work in this lighting condition. It looks nice, but outof place. Instead what I would do is place lights inside the pool around the walls, and have it illuminate that way.

I agree with Morbid Angel those caustics are produced by the sun so sunny day was supposed to be present as light condition.
Anyway nice they works but not correct to be placed in those light condition as evening one.

I do not agree. Mood is more important than accuracy. It´s physically not possible, but is doesn´t look wrong. The image shall sell.

I agree when you say one can do a nice illumination inside the water, but these "caustics" do holiday-emotion - and that´s the aim!

they do look strnage (stylized), but I like. Lets not forget we are artists - otherwise we'd all be using unbiased renderer's!

Nice image, I like the mood.

The caustics I like how they look, even though they area fake; which might not be immediately obvious to most people, except people who work with VRay and have tried to make real caustics before
