  • Victorian Lodge Model

    Hi

I'm trying out the already tried and tested method of making a model look like a physical model. I feel like there is something lacking in the scene and though I'd ask for some opinions. I did try the white card / balsa wood approach, but my preference was to see the materials. I have used the "sponza test model" maps for the stone texture as they as are a very close match, but I have every intention of replacing these at a later date.

    Cheers

    Very nice work, looks good.
I think the glass needs more reflections and there seem to be some black elements in the model, and the base may need to be off white so you can see whats happening - apart from that looks great - nice DOF too.

Overall looks very nice, but it seems that most of your materials could use some boost in the reflections. It feels a bit matte-finished overall.

I think it already looks like a model.
I think the most important thing is the scale and the DOF.
here you already have the correct scaling with right object placed near giving us the sense of dimensions. and your DOF amount is really making us see as a small scale. I mean I dont know how to explain it better but I always see this effect produced with wrong DOF but not as intended use. I see many expamples of renders in which the buildings start to look like a model in renders because of wrong amount of DOF.

You can improve by making the window glasses replace with a more asetat looking material- so they look more transparent and bluish.

thanks for the feedback guys, I'll work on the materials - especially the glass - and post an update when I can. The black hole of a front door and glass conseveratory needs particular attention.

          thanks again
