  • First animation ever

    Hi,
This is my first animation ever. this is not the finished product, but the first rendered version of the entire animation. I have many things to learn.
I'm not satisfied with the render, where you can see many many flickering and splotches. i didn't find the right way to render animations yet.
I used animation prepass with LC and then animation rendering without LC since the light are always moving (i think that's dumb but it was the choice of the client). I really hate the architectural project too....
hope I'll do better next time.
    Comments and advices appreciated.

    watch it in HD...

For your first animation its really fantastic! I think the moving sun is actually a nice touch, and its not too fast to be annoying.

Nice job on the lighting + everything else.

          nice animation!
what antialiasing filter did you use? blend?
          nice camera work.
the animation from day to night is really nice as well.

            thanks this gives me hope

for the antialiasing filter I used Lanczos resampling filter... i find it to be a medium solution between too crisp and too blurry filters...

Great job, well done.. some people walking around would be a nice touch.

thanks for kind words. actually i wanted to put some people walking around, but i didn't find a good solution i could master in the short time i was allowed to do this work.
If you have some suggestions concerning walking people, i'd be happy to hear them.
i thought about rpc, but the last time i used them in still images, they weren't very efficient (shadows, reflections....). i also thought about mocap data linked to models, but i didn't have time to do (learn) this. i also thought about bying real blue screen footage of real people, but i wouldn't know how to integrate them in a good way on after effects... in fact i didn't go in depth in any of these options since i quickly decided to skip ppl in this work. but i'd like to know good ways to do this. i saw on your website that you had very nice ppl in your animations (which are by the way incredibly good) . i'm curious about the process.

Very nice work. Can you take us through the process of rendering the images...how did you setup the vray cache files etc
                  Regards

                    thanks stevesideas.
I'm not very proud of the quality of the indirect illumination; there are many many flicks and splotches everywhere. that 'downs' (is it proper english ?) the quality of the animation a lot.I think I messed things somewhere..
anyway, for all sequences I applied a method I saw on this forum 2 weeks ago (I certainly messed things somewhere, but where ?):

1 LC single frame +Irr animation(prepass) for each frame
2 Irr animation (rendering) no secondary engine(LC off) for each frame

This post was also a sort of test to see if this work was worth showing, or if it was really painfull for the eyes.
                          thanks for your encouragements.
discovering those forums is really good. good tips, good participation, good vibes.

Great job! Some technical errors as you mention yourself, but the look and lighting in general is quite impressive to me. Thumbs up
