  • Finished Shots from The Chronicles of Nerm

Here are some finished shots from my upcoming film I've been working on for a few years now, 'The Chronicles of Nerm. For the past several years, I've been creating the sets (six) and characters (twelve) for the film, and after getting all of my audio recorded, I've been animating the ten minute film! Obviously this is not the finished film, I have probably a year and a half left on this film before it is finished. But these are finished shots from the film. This is a one-person project.

I feel incredibly lucky to have the amazing voice cast that signed onto my film, it's been an absolute dream come true:

Nerm: Alex Mentzel - You can see Alex in 'Feast of Love' where he plays Greg Kinnear's nephew as well as in many advertisements and plays.

Targ: Marc Graue - Marc owns a famous recording studio in LA. You can see him on VH1s 'Free Radio' and his voice in cartoons and games like World of Warcraft.

Ky: Zoe Bell - Famed stuntwoman-turned actor Zoe Bell played a lead in Quinten Tarantino's 'Death Proof' (Grindhouse) and ABCs Lost.

The Guard: Shelly Lipkin - Shelly has been on numerous TV shows and films over the years, including Laverne and Shirley, Lois and Clark and The Fugitive.

Keena: Mylisha Hood - This is Mylisha's first acting work, and she did a fantastic job!

You say you have a year and a half left, is there any chance of a rough breakdown how you are spending that time? The only part of making a film I understand is the modeling and lighting, cause it's all I can do. haha.

Also, how long is it going to be?

You've done a frightening amount of work on it so far and it's looking fantastic, great job man

The next year or two will be spent on animating. Animation is a very slow process, but I am getting there!

The finished film will be about 10 minutes. Thanks for the comments everyone!

Have you had to deal with your skills improving over the course of production, changing the look of it at all?

Sorry for the mini interview, haha.

I dont mind a semi-interview! My skills changing has been somewhat of an issue, but most of the changes I've made have been in lighting and rendering, which is something I can apply globally. I was very careful to have very detailed and well-textured models from the start of this project, so they're still holding up to the newer things.

Congrats on what you have created so far. Im sure this film short will be featured in a number of mags and other places. Just think...after you finish you can be so proud of what you have accomplished. I envy you on that day

Man - you are lucky. I just looked up some of the people you're working with.

That chick Zoe Bell is amazing - never heard of her before until tonight:
