This is quite literally one of the most basic boring designs I've rendered in 15 years. And I really didn't have the freedom of covering it up with trees. What can you do??? I hope I pulled it off.... Comments? Ideas??

John,
I recently did an industrial site and feel your pain.
If that's metal cladding I'd increase reflectivity quite a bit (even if it's powder coated). Same thing goes for the sylo on the right. Put some lines, skid marks etc to break up the road surface. Are the little squares windows? They dont reflect the sky at all?
Hope this might help
Zoran

hey
with all my design experience i would....(well client permitting) i have had several industrial boat storage facilities that look exactly the same, it has come to my exp. ( i see you have some vertical banding in the walls) i would extract them a little bit maybe give the facade some contrast. but if client does like then your are scr***** lol...=)

Most of us have been there at some point, no big deal provided you don't have to produce renderings like that all the time!
Regarding the image, the trees in the background look like a photo to me - i'd use geometry for the ones immediately in sight, and those behind that perhaps use photos.
The grass to me looks out of perspective with the image, like it's a photo that's been set in there.
I tired to jazz up a render like this making it wet before, client didn't like it, but I had fun. I like the fire idea too! Not really marketable though :P

I feel your pain. Maybe a different time of day to add some drama to the lighting - perhaps a sunrise/sunset type of shot or lighting with an HDRI.www.dpict3d.com - "That's a very nice rendering, Dave. I think you've improved a great deal." - HAL9000... At least I have one fan.
