    Nice and really well done..
( for a reel, mabee a little long looping around with the same thing, but then again, that's just an opinion)

      That's really good work!

What was it put together in? After Effects?

        Dan,
Was actually put together in Nuke; couldn't imagine doing this in AFX because there was so much tracking data being passed around and there was also a tone of marker removal stuff happening, so the node based system and the bloody good tracker of nuke were great to work with.
However, we did use AFX to 'edit' the different finished shots together though; but this was really only to export the whole sequence with sound to various formats as that's about the only piece of software that can do this which I have a license for!

Very good, though this could have been tracked in after effects, especially now it has mocha. Suppose it depends what you're used to. I never "got" node based compositing myself. If I really needed it, I would be using it.

It always struck me as something that tended to be used in larger more complex pipelines, but this could be misinformation. For smaller outfits or one man bands, AE does the job.

for multi pass stuff node based is really handy - for example if you ever use things like track mattes or alpha mattes in after effects they become a pain in the arse when you start having lots of layers - the space they take up is annoying - node based is far easier to reuse a channel or a pass without making the entire work space difficult to read.

I've used alpha mattes, but never that many, so my brain coped - though I can see how it could potentially get very complicated.

How about node based compositors for doing motion graphics? Any advantage or disadvantage there?

Congratulations! Really nice reel and I like it a lot. Can you give some more information?

                1. Original resolution is FULL HD. 25 or 30 fps?
                2. Can you tell some average time for the project?

                  Thanks for the comments.

1.) 1080p 25fps - shot on a panasonic HPX 500, which shoots at DVCPRO HD 4:2:2 1080p, but I would NEVER use this camera again - for a 20K camera with a 10K lens, it was crap. The picture was piss poor with a ton of aberration. Huge let down unfortunately.

2.) average time I can't really indicate accurately; there was a lot of time put into planning and design, but i'd say was *about* two to three days *per scene* for one person for the production from assets. So that's the marker removal, grading, tracking, all the 3d animation and the rendering, and the 2d mograph composited in and animated.

Hard to say about advantages or disadvantages specifically to motion graphics - personally I think once you know what 'tools' you've got, you just use the software to achieve what you need to do - the category or clasification of visual styles (mograph, photo-real compositing, cartoon stylised animation) don't necessarily come into it. They are all graphics problems essentially...

Mind you I could be talking bullsh*t.

What codec did you used to make the flash video?
