  • Fur material test

    Greetings to all,

I am trying to make long hair cow hide...and i bumped into these problems:

    - hairs r by default created with 3 sides, which brings problems with closeups, where u can clearly see the fur faces

    - because the hairs have only 3 sides, they r picking up reflections very badly as you can see on the picture...

    - my question is...how can i improve the fur material and fur object?

    - should not vray smooth out the 3 sides of the fur? because in my image, it clearly doesnt

    - can i somehow set the fur so it is generated with more sides?

    - currently, i have th ematerial set to 50% reflection with a falloff...and am not very happy with the way the fur reflects the environment....

can you help me out please??

    thanks

    best regards
    Martin

try turning off "flat normals" and see if that helps.
The "sides" option is disabled which is what you need to make your strands smoother.

The fur strands do not have sides; they are intersected as thin cylinders. Turning off the "flat normals" option may provide a better result.

                  Best regards,
                  Vlado
