  • Caribbean villa - case study

    Hi,

Posting a case study that I have been working on after working hours. I work with technical visualization in my job, so this is a new field for me.

My goal was to capture the caribbean night lighting and atmosphere.

    Done with 3DS MAX 2009 and V-Ray SP3a.

not too shabby. though for me, the lights on the second floor needs a little more yellow, and the light on the first floor, need a little more orange.

pretty good. feels like its missing it something to push it from something you could find in florida to being something designed by a local architect.

          daylight version

Thank you very much for your replies!

I am using a V-Ray sun / sky daylight setup, and I have rendered a day version as well to test it out. Posting some closeups from hi-res illustration + a full shot.

Very interested in feedback, opinions and thoughts on how to improve!

The lighting and composition are very nice. There seems to be some dark outlines around your window frames that are a little to dark and jagged IMO. Nice work overall.

                  Hi Elf,

My wife is from Trinidad, we live in Norway now.. Next time we go to the caribbean we are going to visit Barbados - it looks very beautiful! Noting like pina coladas under the sun (or a carib for that matter)

It seems you have an occlusion pass... which is waaaay too strong imo.
                    Good work!

                        Nice renders =)
I agree about the Occlusion pass being strong.
