    Hi all,

Recently I had the pleasant surprise of working with a client that wasn't brainwashed into believing that all images have to be done with a 18mm lens and standing in the far corners to see everything in one image. [as usually happens]

Although I had to do the usual hero shots I was allowed to use my own ideas to come up with some extra marketing images. What a joy to not feel so constrained. Maybe more clients, [especially architects] should let us use our skills & ideas a bit more??? [It's not like we have been doing this for ages!!!]

Anyway enough complaining!! Here are a couple of images from this project.

    Commets Welcome

Thanks for the comments all.....I am sure you all experience those issues to some degree...and the most frustrating thing is that it comes from a lack of respect for 3D artists. I know for a fact that architects don't tell professional photographers how to do their job.....if they did the photographer would tell them where to go quick smart. So why is it then they disregard our skills as 3D professional artists. ????
Maybe it's because the industry is still young???? Maybe they think because we use computers it's easy??? Not sure where it all stems from but it seems a general attitude in the industry. Most of these people have absolutely NO IDEA about the complexity of what we do.

And don't even get me started on Interior Designers/Decorators.........we would be here a long time...and I'm not sure the Forum will allow the type of language that they would inspire!!

    i love them

i love them way to capture some of these moments. i really did enjoy them compared to the typical shots like you say.

Its funny that you said this, sometimes it gets to the point that i myself get brainwashed and stop trying to convince the client to think outside the box as it makes me work double at the end. However it happens. Some of them are happy some of them are not.

    Great Job!

ps i like their W on the logo. it looks sweet.

That is so true, I work for an architects here and constantly battle with 'can we get this in the view aswell' or lets see another high level view... It sucks the life out of us. Then sometimes I get time to play about with views myself a little and some go 'oh wow, that close up image is the best bit'... Like yeah, I tried mentioning it...

Great images, and views I guess we should just keep pushing

                nice

really nice, thank you for sharing this wonderful work.

                one question:
which post software/plugin did you use to get the shiny star (specular highlight or reflection) on the glas of your last image ?

                thx and all teh best,

It was just a simple bitmap of a lens flare [had it for so long I can't remember too much... but I made it using 3ds max -- Environment& Effects --lens Effects. Just render a flare over a black background & use 'screen mode' in photoshop as a layer.

                  Cheers

Great work, and good to grab the opportunite to use different viewpoints than those '13 in a dozen' presentations.

Off topic: shouldn't 'bluring' be spelled 'blurring', even in Oz?

Well I guess you are right!!!
But hey come on & give me a break because I am a colour guy....lol
I am lucky if I spell my name right most days!!! My wife tells me it's because I didn't read enough books....probably true.

[It's also a bit embarrassing when people spell better in their second or third language than I do in my first [& only] language.]
Must admit we are pretty bad with 2nd or 3rd languages in Oz & often pretty bad in our first. We don't start a second language at school until we are about 13 [way too late!]
After going to France a couple of times [My wife is from France] I was amazed to hear so many different languages when walking down the street & obviously it's pretty important to getting ahead in life in many countries.

                      All the best

PS My wife & I would like to go & live in europe for a while soon so that our kids learn french.....what is the average pay for 3D viz artitsts??? We get between 50,000-90-000 AUD per year here in OZ.

why can't english be the same everywhere??????

Well the re ya go!!! Just checked the OZ version of the spellcheck in word doc. Apparently that is they way we spell it.....although there is no guarantee that the people who did the spell checker weren't drunk......[we have a very 'alchoholic culture' here.]

why can't english be the same everywhere?????? I think I'll stick to colours. [sorry that's the way we spell colors]

                        AAAAAAHHHHHHHHH

Very nice images, nice colours and use of DOF.
Completely understand the client issues as well - can be very frustrating.
The client equation goes something like this:

the best images = no budget + (no design x unlimited changes)/3 day schedule

something here just doesn't add up.

You were lucky to get a more relaxed "artistic" style job.
