Some of you might remember I started a WIP thread for this a while ago... ( http://www.chaosgroup.com/forums/vbu...ad.php?t=45192 )
    Well it's finished!

It's on it's third version and looks nothing like the original idea, but the old one really wasnt doing it for me so I switched things up a bit. It's far darker and dingier now too, which I like more

    Final:

    Crop1:

    Crop2:

    Fog layer:

full res is 6,000px across, mostly done in max 2008 and vray sp2 - but for the fog I installed max 2010 and vray sp3 onto my machine and rendered it overnight to a vrimg. Worked really well tbh, quite hassle free.

    Almost finished!
Path 4 doesnt have any fog, the train isnt in, not tried doing the particles yet and the colours are fucked - but it's mostly there.

Great work. Fog has worked particularly well.

Wow, very nice! I remember your first version, which was great. But this I like more. Nice mood of steampunk. The colors are supporting the design very well. Two little tiny details I would change: The archway in the left really needs an arch. It looks to clinical in contrast to the other nice designs. The seats are from another (wrong) century. They crying for some wrought-iron.

This is one of these picture one want to print out and give it a special place in a nice picture frame on the wall.

Thanks I wouldnt mind getting a print of it to be honest... will price it up.
The idea was the same behind the old one - It's a modern city, and they've decided to restore and fit into the old architecture while also trying to preserve it. So thats why theres some overly new sections and the seating that doesnt fit - they only restored the big structures and covered the old walls.

I take it this doesnt come across as well as i'd hoped?

Nice render, prefer this to your older one - was the fog hard to do? We've not installed SP3 yet so haven't experimented with that.

Now all you need is some RPC's in there. I'm kidding of course!!

Thanks - I was unsure what to do with the last one, nice to know scrapping it was the right move

Fog was pretty smooth sailing, probably spent about an hour and a half setting it up total. deleted all objects which had a glass material, assigned a flat black to everything then just start playing with numbers till it looked good. Was not quick to render without noise though.

            edit:wires!

                      Slowly, to sum it up.
                      Thanks guys

I'm looking into getting this printed, does anyone know a decent place that does glossy card prints? And how much are they?

                        So...when are you animating it?

This would suit a real world camera matchmoved and put in the scene, would look very realstic I think.

Already got 3 camera moves locked down and the music picked, just got a couple more to come up with then I can render some tests.

Some quick animation stills! Set up the effects on some frames before so I have some straight grabs done.
Full res is 1280x720. Got a fair few paths telling a basic story, these are from 1&2. Done a quick playthrough timed to the music and it's working well
