  • A Day in Pompeii

we recently finished a project for the Melbourne museum called " a day in Pompeii"
it was a stereoscopic animation of Vesuvius erupting as if you were in one of the villas looking out over Pompeii. here are a few stills from it.
there's some break downs on this page too if your interested.

A quick anaglyph stereo image (this is not how the final stereo effect is produces, we used dual polarized projectors for full colour stereoscopic

we used max2009 VRay, FumeFX, Afterburn, Pflow Box 2 and Box 3, Rayfire, GWIvy and Grant Adam's RPmanager and composited in Fusion.

          fantastic work!
is it possible to see the entire animation?
Can you tell us something about the stereo camera used in Max? is it a plugin?

          Regards

I have to wait till its been out for a while before I can upload the animation
the stereo cameras just used some in-house scripting, the code was simple and can be found online, really nothing special.

                Nice work Jay and Jordo!

Would love to see the exhibition, but sadly its a bit far to go. So maybe I will just go to the real thing

Great works guys! Congratulations to all involved. It really gives the sense of doom and disaster on a grand scale.
Is the exibion ever going to be moved to Sydney maybe?

                              Quick question for you:
We are thinking of doing a project with simillar presentation, but more in direction of polarized tv screens (which are sooo expensive that our client almost got a heart attack when we suggested them). Can you, please direct me to some more info involving two projectors method and just a guide price range if possible.

                              thanks

                              Zoran
