  • John Pawson's Tetsuka House

John Pawson is one of the most influential architects of recent times. Famous for his rigorously minimal style, he has worked on projects as wide-ranging as Calvin Klein’s flagship store in Manhattan and a new Cistercian monastery in Bohemia, Czech Republic. He has published numerous books, including the best selling Minimum.

I am a big fan of John Pawson, he is from my home town of Halifax in UK as well!. This is my personal study of Tetsuka House. Just for fun!

          Ditto the above mate.

Funny thing though. I was flipping through Residential Architect as it arrived yesterday and there is a house remodel in Aus that does a similar bench through the glass trick as in your images.

Cool, I always used to think the Window Frame was built around the bench. It's just a simple break in the bench instead, the window carries on to the wall as normal. John Pawson has done it a few times now. Simple is better!!

                Superb work

If I was to pick at anything that doesnt look quite right, I'd say the leather material was a touch too large and the stairs look too sharp. But thats so minor on bloomin fantastic images, good work

Cleck-Hudders-Fax eh? I did my Part1 in Huddersfield. Bought my copy of Bannister Fletcher from the 2nd hand book shop at Piece Hall in Halifax.

                    Happy days.

Lovely images by the way. I particularly like the edges to them - how have you done that? Its a photo-negative style I guess.
                    Kind Regards,

Hey! Fellow yorkshire man. From Illingworth myself. Near Ogden Resovwaaar. Walked thorugh Peice Hall about 2 weeks ago. The Market is tiny there these days. My antie used to own the Chicken Stall there.

Yep. Good old days int talifax.

The edges were just really simple in Photoshop. Use select (box) tool 1cm inside image edges, inverse selection, fill black with feather on the selection tool to provide a fade. Then do the same selection (1cm inside edge, inverse selection, copy) on the image itself and turn it into a bright oragny/yellow and fade.

Its a good effect. Subtle, but it works.

I'm a Lancashire lad meself. From Preston originally, but now in the sunny south! (did you know the pavements are lined with gold down here?)

                          Nice Work!!

Maybe the outside area with tree could be a bit more realistic by having a few old leaves lying on the ground??
It would add that extra touch of realism.

                          Good work though

                          Cheers
