Hi guys, here are two spots done out of Vray maya.
http://www.mokme.com/ww.mov
http://www.mokme.com/BritishGas.mov
Both projects were done at the same time with a turn around period of 1 month. 4 people on each project. Overall, Im very happy with Vray Maya. Very stable. However its much slower in production compared to Vray 3ds Max.
Biggest lag was with the vray shaders in the hypergraph and displaying textures in viewport. Just slow in updating. I ended up using lambert to assign my textures. Once I got it to where it needed, I relinked it to the vray material. Also I still cant find vray properties for objects. I ended up assigning vray mtl wrapper to every object to get certain passes. This really slowed things down when it was time for final renders. Light linking was a bit buggy. Would be great if render layers can work. I cant tell how many maya people will cry about this.
Overall beats using mental ray! Vray maya is more stable and reliable than MR. Though AO out of MR seems to have better results.
