The stone, if that is what it is, what is covering the building,
it is very confusing, the dimensions of the pieces could vary,
    and tones within them,
i know it is for today,
same with the stones on the ground, they are all the same,
in real life it is not like this, normally.

besides that, the images are prospero quality.

    good luck

Three days?! Would do that in a single day ... on the north pole.

Just a thought : on the second image of the second image post (hope you get me), I'd rather place the sun on the right, in order to get a nice lit/shadowed sequence (thanks to shadows in the patio) and thus give the building more depth ... unless you need to show some particular period of the day.

Really great stuff Gonçalo. Need me to say "keep it up!"?

          Regards,

          Nenad

                    exceptional work!

                    GoncaloP,

Extremely nice work. If I had to crit anything I would agree with the ground stone, it seems a bit black and white. The darker grey almost reads like dirt.

I really like the interior image. Very well done, one of the nicest images I've seen....and WOW 3 days!!!! Congrats!

I absolutely love the butt glazed joint in the window pane on the left. Very nice touch. Were you able to accomplish that strictly with Vray or is that post? Nice touch with the Landrover in the rear on "the mountain"... Nice subtle touches.....

Could you PLEASE tell us your settings and rendering time???? Would it be possible to see a screen capture wireframe of your scene?
Your quality of work is amazing... Congrats again.

                    Thank you for sharing.

LOL! i was about to tell you how awstruck i am at your new renders. But then i read that they are images. Let me just pick my jaw off the floor. Still my last comment stands, GREAT work mate. And i agree, after all this praise, i think we need to know a bit more about your settings....
                      Keep it up

                        Gonçalo,

After seeing the pictures that you took from the site, I was wondering...
They have a warmer feel, definetly more "real" than the renderings.
Why is it so difficult to get that feel?
Please don't get me wrong, I would be the latest to criticize negatively your work, because it is so danm good, as I've told you many times and you know (I hope) it. And I am not talking only about the rendering, but also concerning the architecture...
But after seeing those images I think that the sun in the renderings could be a little more yellowish than now, And perhaps, more bright...
Maybe with some Photoshop tweakings you can achieve such effect...
Again, I insist, I am not saying that the images are not good, but I am thinking about the whole architectural imagery that WE ALL create with the intention to look like real pictures....
                        Do you get the point?

Regards and great work as always,
                        Joao.

João, I really appreciate your input! I think you are absolutly right on your critique, and after reading your post I ve checked the sunlight color, and I realize that I had forgot to change it from default white color.

On this scene I had use phonton map for secondary bounces. The photons are shooted from the sunlight (Standart Direct Light) and from the Vraylights placed on the windows as skylight portals, which are converted to irradiance map to speed up the AA process.

On the photon map options I had checked the converted to irradiance map option to have more rendering speed, however, in this way the exterior part of the scene lacks from the indirect skylight contribution for the GI.

On the interior side, I have more or less 30 photometric lights casting shadows. Those, dont have any contributing to the secondary bounces too, because they are not shoting photons. The problem with the use of photons with photometric lights is that they dont respect the WEB disbribution, they are simply read as point lights. The shadows used on this lights were shadow maps with 0.5 of density, to have less dark areas on the interior and some tiny shadow effect.

I usualy try to setup the overall scene, not the image itself and then make some shots from different places. This is what I did on the posted images, using the incremental add to irradiance map option and the photon map from the file.

The settings were always the same even for the interior one, and the render times about 1 - 1,5 hours at 2400x1800, with a Dual AMD 1600+ with 2 Gig (almost 2 Million poligons). Oops, forgot to check the render instance option too...

However the more time consuming part is the last pass of the interpolation glossi reflections which takes more than a half of the rendering time. I cant find a reason to this, but seems to be related with overbright warnings or invalid color shows up, wich I really dont know how to avoid them all.

Here you can see the settings used and a wire frame view of the scene
Direct light - diffuse subdiv. 5000 mult. 1
                          Vraylights - diffuse subdiv. 1000 mult. 1

Thanks again for the nice comments and critques!

                          Regards,

                            Oi Gonçalo.

May be the renderings can be improved, Guess a rendering always can be improved.

But what I have to say is that you have this client totally spoiled.

I'd like to see this people's face, the hipotetic day they work with another architect, and they are shown the first project in 2D plans an elevations...

                            Fermí

BTW Luis Figo has a much bigger nose in the middle of his face + he must still daydreaming with Buffon (having nightmares I mean)
