  • Chelsea Square - Day

Something I did at the start of the year for Wilkinson King Architects in London. This is how to make a multi-million £ property out of an otherwise quite normal brick terrace built in the 50s after the original square was bomb damaged beyond repair.

I did some night shots too, will post those once I have got round to putting them on my website.

Thanks to samuel_bubat for this inspiring post re: reactor water http://www.chaosgroup.com/forums/vbu...ad.php?t=40590 The caustics were a pain to do, i ended up calculating them with everything but the pool and slot above hidden, and the final render had to be done with various bits of glass hidden.

All dof stuff is vray, in fact all renders are pretty much straight out of vray, i might have done a bit of CA/distortion/vignetting in pshop, can't remember! Oh and I probably used the blur tool in photoshop to smooth out sparkles on the chrome chair legs.

    Thanks for looking.

        Fantastic shots.
I'm now spending my days throwing balls in reactor water and painting brick displacement textures by hand. Great!

The little bit of dof on image 4 and 5 make it look damn realistic - fair play.

Great work as always Peter. The caustics were worth it

Wondered when we'll see it here too great work, what i find remarkable is the fact you achieve this straight out of V-Ray. The final look of the pool was justifies what you did to get it - one of the best rendered pools I've seen, regarding how realistic it looks.

Please do share some night shots with us... i remember seeing some ies + V-Ray volumetrics tests on your blog with this scene - would love to see how the finals look

                Great work!

Interesting scheme. I just find them difficult to look at. I can't put my finger on exactly why, but they are very 'complicated' shots that seem to be trying to show too much. Maybe its the even brightness or the reflectivity, or the 'dark lines' around some of the glass panels: to me, they are a bit confused.

Then again, it could just be a complex house of course!

(Then again still, it could be the amount of beer I drank over the bank holiday weekend!)
                      Kind Regards,
                      Richard Birket

thanks guys, tricky, it is a really tight space so was a bit of a challenge! plus I had the usual architect's requests to 'get as much in as possible' into every shot. Its sometimes hard to convince clients that less-is-more is equally valid in photography. Thank god I didnt have to put people in at least. Having said all that, I am very pleased with the way these turned out.
