  • Couple more bottle renders

These are some alt renders from a bottle job we did a while ago. We made a line of 4 or 5 of the Lamb's Rum bottles but I wanted to do a few images that were a bit looser in style. Model of the bottle was done by Chris Schramm, rest was us here. The label materials are actually quite complex (foils, glossy hits, embossed areas, etc) but VrayRT made the job vastly easier.

I also love RT for lighting things like bottles. Being able to actually *see* refractions in realtime has made it soooo much better.

Post in Photoshop (and a bit of Motiva RealCamera - which I'm having some fun with atm).

    C&C always appreciated.

    Great Work!

If only my architectural renders allowed me to get this close to my props....ohh well!

        hey Brett,

i think the first image has too much blurry part, and you should increase the depth of field, because riight now the only sharp part is the AM of the typo. I think you should increase the DOF so that you can have at least the DEPUIS text in focus and maybe a bit of the english flag. What do you think ?

As for the second image i really like it. The Lighting is really nice and i like the texture of the paper (the brown/purple one) you can see the richness of it because of the texture you use of the reflection glossinness of it. As for the embossed areas did you use a displacement or a simple bump ? If you have some more closeup of that paper i would love to see it, because it's really great we can see you put a lot of effort working on it.

        Congrats again !

Thanks for the feedback Walee. Figures though: I actually preferred the first shot

First shot: the focus level was something I struggled with, and I think I agree. I will need to re-render to try the depth of field change, as I used the vray camera DOF, but when I get a bit of down time I'll revisit the file and give it a try.

Second material: bit of bump but also displacement for the embossed areas. Pretty subtle for a displacement, but it didn't seem to hurt render times much and it was for pretty high-res - see the detail of the full-res below:

yes i agree, it's very subtle , but then again it's a good job. and especially knowing the size of the render, i know what it's like when you have to render a 8000 pixel wide image.
