here's some closeups and details from a work we recently finished. those were mainly meant for the client to pick up a colour (there were more variants than the all blacks posted here), or choose a particular piece of furniture for different parts of the shop. I can't show the whole concept here, but I find these ones kind of finished as they are.
last one I got intrigued by what Brett said here:

and wanted to see how motiva realcamera worked. nice little tool, wouldn't be bad to have it working with animations too.

Wow. Fantastic set of images. Great work on the materials, but really nice compositions and light as well.

I really like the design of the lights too

    Well done.

cheers brett, the client was very picky with every piece of furniture. if it was not custom made, it had to be from italian deisgners and produced in the fifties or sixties. well, almost, the armchair in the first image is actually from the eighties. but I guess it looked old enough

Fantastic. Extremely minutious modeling and texturing. I love the super-subtle bump on the lamp (been toying with the idea of modeling this one too myself).
Tell me, the wall on image six from the top - bump or displacement? And how are you getting such fine close-up details without the tiling becoming apparent further away?

thank you all for the positive comments, really appreciate them.
in fact it's been a fun project, with some classic pieces of design to work on. I always enjoy having a bit of time to dedicate to these kind of things, especially when deadlines are not that tight.

it's displacement, and actually I find it looking better from a distance. closeups are fine, but that good, I thought they would turn out better.
there is some tiling, but not really apparent. the actual displacement map is quite large, and once it got mixed with specular and diffuse the effect was even less noticeable. I guess reflections and hard shadows helped to break the uniformity of the surface too.

Very nice work, I think most people who would see these would believe they are actual photographs
