  • Interactive web 3D - WIP

    Hi Guys

We have a web based project we are currently working on which is a collection of 3d rooms that will be navigated through by the user using flash. Below are the work in progress renders which we wanted to post and welcome all constructive comments and criticisms so we can feed them back into the project and make any improvements!

Many thanks for taking the time to have a look and hopefully provide feedback!

    Best regards

So will the path be prerendered? Or is it more like a papervision implementation? Depending, I think the renders are looking pretty good! The lighting on my monitor is a bit blown out in some cases, like the bottom ceiling image. Also it looks like some of the images could use a higher IRR Map, as there's a bit of splotchiness in the corners...I think I like the kitchen scene best.

Thanks Eric - it will be pre rendered paths the user can navigate along - the reception area in particular is still being worked on and things like the red wall, furniture and light settings (as you have picked up on) need a little tweaking! Will modify the IRR map thanks!

I agree with the previous statements. Once corrected they will really help the images. My favorite is the office with the brick wall on the right hand side. I think that wall has a few issues though. Is the scale of the bricks correct? Also it looks a little flat and too reflective. Do you happen to have a normal map or better bump map you could use?

        Nice images in general though.

            ha! indeed add101 if only!

Will have a look at those bricks Jer25, agree they dont look right, a little too reflective as you have pointed out.

            Thanks

              hello,
here is the tweaked office render in actual size that is going to be used for the web.
no post production has yet been done.

we re strugling with rendertime a bit as its quite large per one frame, just look at the frame stamp :-/// its over 2 hrs per frame at this res!!!!

any hint how we can crunch it?

              current settings r:
              Adaptive DMC 1/4
DMC sampler: 1 for adaptive amount, noise 0,01, subd 24
IR map (animation medium) 120/65 (lower settings give us blotches)
              LC 1000/0.02 - 8 passes - prefilter 100 - adaptive tracing - fixed filter at 0.04

              Thanks a lot!

Do you have moving objects in the scene?

If not, you could precalc the irmap and knock that down to under half.

Do you have 'use light cache for glossy rays' ticked in the LC parameters? Always good for a few minutes...sometimes quite a lot of minutes...

                      Exterior

They look a little flat, but nothing that can't be fixed in post. The shingles look nice... I don't see any tiling.

a bit too much of the floor colour being bounced onto ceiling and walls for me
lcd monitor screen in first shot looks qa bit like stuck on paper !
