  • stencil mask trouble

    Hi Guys,

New to vray and I'm not an animator, forgive if my question may be very silly.
I can't figure out how to use a stencil mask for the text on the glass (stencil utility not supported?) and had to chop the surface to make sure the opacity mask would be bigger than the actual surface. There must be a better way, like key masking? I would like to be able to use texture projections on only a certain area of a surface...

Also, can't figure out yet how to make the vraylightmtl to be very dark in the corners while being bright in the middle (the background circular gradient, photoshop file was black to creamy bright).

Any input and critiques greatly appreciated!

Not much of a help right now, but we already support the stencil utility node in our current internal builds (you can get these if you wish); for the VRayLightMtl material, you can try to increase the color gain for the texture, and perhaps add some contrast to the gradient texture itself.

    Best regards,
    Vlado
I only act like I know everything, Rogers.

      Hi Vlado,

Thanks for the info. Surely I would like to try to use the internal builds to try it with stencil node. Or are they crazy unstable under basic usage?

Have tried your suggestions, much better now i think. I used maya ramp with superhighcontrast (color gain 3) and the black even negative value...

      Thanks for your help!
