        Hi Vince,

To use photon map, the max density should 1/4 untill 1/5 of the shearch dist.

Try to start with photon map for first and second diffuse bounces to get the best solution to your scene, this numbers are scene dependent and are useful to let you use a very high amount of diffuse subdivions and get a smoth effect with photon map with a small use of ram.

I usualy start with Max photons at 0 for the first tests, then when I find the right number for search dist and max density, I rize the max photons again.

I also use to low retrace threshold to 0,0 for get a better illumination near the edges.

And finaly you should use the same number for Bounces and Retrace Bounces too.

        Hope this helps,

        Gonçalo

Like Elf said, you should avoid to use less than 50 HSph subdivisions, and a high value of Interpolation samples like 50, are only bluring the GI solution.

To get a smoth and detailed GI look the defaults are usualy good enough.

@GoncaloP..... i´m not quite sure what the effects of the "search radius" and the max. desinty are. i always use auto search and max. desity = 0 because i don´t really know anything exactly about it. any help, please ?! :P
