  • Mermaids and liquids - recent stuff.

Just a couple of recent Vray projects. The liquid started from the modo "splash kit" parts, with some added sculpting and rendered in Vray.

The mermaid was a quick one we did for a photographer who shot this as a promo, but ran into trouble getting the mermaids to work well. We built the tails and assembled it with his Photoshop file. Most of the style/treatment work on the overall shot was established by the photopgrapher, so we just matched the style/look. This is just a crop of the larger piece - there were 5 mermaids done in all.

    C&C always welcome.

    /b

Eheheheh....it seems an arm of another pirate....or a very strange foot.

Very good. Makes a change from architecture/cars/products! Have you ever seen any of the work by Ray Caesar? I saw an artwork of his in the Harris Library/Gallery in Preston entitled Ebb Tide which was absolutly stunning. CG imagery combined with painting (I think). It features a surreal, futuristic (kind of!) mermaid on a beach.

It was printed rather large and it looked amazing - your image reminds me of it (subject rather than style I guess)
              Kind Regards,

                Thanks all

That is the arm of another mermaid creeping in there. This is actually a very small crop of a much larger image - but most of the work was not mine, and not 3D, so I just cropped it down. It makes for some odd bits sticking in here and there (see attached image for overall shot)

Tricky: never heard of Ray Caesar but that painting is great, I will do some digging around to find some more of his stuff. Thanks for the reference!

Alas, only the tails - it would have been some impressive 3D if the rest of the girls were done that way, and someone else would have had to do it because it would be way beyond my abilities
