  • Lonely bird

    Hi All,

Quiet day so myself and a colleague had a play with grass (thanks Peter Guthrie!) Got some nice results, so worked up this view in PS.

Brute force and LC for rendering. DMC 1,8 0.008 AA. VrayFog as a separate pass. VraySun/Sky/Cam with HDRI as env. and refs. 2k each and took 2 hours.

Oh and the bird is the only photo!!

    C&C if you wish.

    Mark

Added a second image, not as much work, but ends the fun!

I'm pleased with the effect in the short time we had.

Hello all I am new to chaos group forums. Its nice to be here!
Nice image! Have you got any tips on creating your vray fog?
Also I suggest that you use a 2 sided material for your tree leaves, I think that the image would benefit from this.

            Thanks Dan,

The fog was rendered out as a separate pass. Override the scene materials to 100% black. Turn off all GI. Then render the fog as white, pretty much default settings, and you get a black and white image of the fog.

I just linear dodged (as i worked in 32 bit) the fog over the base render and adjusted the levels to suit.

            Worked very well.

The trees were modelled out of Onyx, and materialed by a Colleague. I did use 2-sided for the grass, just not the leafs!
