    Hi Guys
Havent posted here for a while.
This little image was completed for this monthes 3DWorld magazine. Its based around a sequence I'm working for an animated shortfilm, and thought it would make a good tutorial.
Its done with Max, Vray and Photoshop. The post production was just colour correction, all the hard work was done in the render!
Best thing is, pick up 3Dworld and the scene is on the disk, along with a video tutorial, all maps and models are included, and the final PSD!
    Hope you like it....

    Heres the wireframe.

Very nice. Would almost like to see another with less DOF just to see more of that modeled foreground detail.

Cool, those fungi must be teeming with psilocybin!
Yes, it would be nice to see more but I like how it makes me feel like i might be a bug or snake crawling through the grass...

it's good, even though I guess I agree with peter. the wireframe image is in a way even more fascinating than the actual render. might be all the detail you can make out in the foreground, I don't know..

This is a fun image. A lot to like here. I do, also, really like the way the wireframe render looks.

I think the value arrangement in the wireframe renders is better. Squint your eyes at it and you can see some evocative shapes and patterns. The color in the the first image is great but the glowiness is breaking down the value arrangement and the image loses something as a result. My eye goes right to the brightly lit mushroom stem as it inserts into the dark umbrella of the mushroom. This seems to be the area of highest contrast and it doesn't feel right since the light from the stem is not transmitting through those super-thin membranes. Alternately, you could darken the stems toward the top.

Anyway, I'm not trying to nitpick . . . just provide helpful feedback. Both images are good.

                thanks for all your comments.
nice to get some valuable feedback!

The DOF has definitly softened all the details, and as I have been looking at it far too long, I hadnt really noticed! Suffering snow blindness.
I had planned to add volumetics, dust and all sorts of other little nice elements, but I ran out of time! There was a strict print deadline for 3DWorld, plus all the text editing to do!
