Shoey, mind posting the shader setup for that model (and small previews of the maps)? I've got some problems with the SSS on mine. Here's the renders and the shader setup.

My latest efforts on the skin shader front

MoonDoggie - I found the scale settings to be a key factor in getting a good result.

forgot to mention this is using the fast sss2 shader.

WDC, keep going. It's not there yet, but it's getting close. Looks much better.

Thanks for the tip, is it tied to the scale of the model? I've been tweaking the scatter radius to get a good result. Here's where I'm at now.

MoonDoggie - Yes the the scale setting along with the scatter radius combined with the actual scale of the model create the final look. I don't have a good understanding of the scale parameter but I think seems to control the back scatter or have an affect on it.

                  Hey Jeff,

here you can have a look over the setup.
Only 3 vray lights (backlight without shadows) no Hdri, no Gi. The Main trick is the creation of the Spec Map to control the reflection with the VRay Mtl.
Its also importend to work in a scene with real scales to control the SSS amount exactly.

                  Greets from here
                  Tommy

Special thanks to Rusko Ruskov from Chaosgroup, for the short talk at FMX2010!

Toko - Great render, thanks for sharing your settings.

Here's a turntable of my head study I rendered over the weekend. Took about 2 minutes a frame.

Great stuff. Could you do a 360 where the model turns and the camera is locked? The light interaction would probably make it work even better.

                          Hello
This is my first attempt with SSS in Vray. Image with background is illuminated with HDR bitmap.

Mikokariadis - I didn't rotate the lights because at the time the highlights didn't look good at all angles but now I'm using a shellac material to add highlights from a vray standard material instead of using the built in highlights from the fast sss2 material.

Good point on the shellac. Taking note, this may come in handy.
