Interior Great Room

Here is one I just completed. it is a great room for a 7 million dollar house we are designing. This is the job that I was having displacement issues. I figured out the displacement issue was vray displacement doesn't play well with real-world map size.

I could not get DOF to work so I did it in post. I have my camera target at the closes object, my f-stop at 1 and my shutter speed was up to compensate. I turned on my camera depth-of-field, but nothing happened. What am I missing?

Were you using the Physical cam and, if yes, what was your focal length?

i like the rendering, nice illumination...... about the design and the space it doesn't look like a 7 million dollar home at all.....it looks like 500k or less

When I enable DOF in the V-Ray panel the DOF seems to work. I don't remember ever having to do this before.

Hi,

You are most likely missing the hyper focal distance, so with a wide angle lens everything will be in focus. (probably why BBB3 ask about your focal length) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyperfocal_distance

I have the vraycam focused on the closest geometry. Like I stated, it is working now. I am not sure why, but I also noticed that the script that were not working in the office are now working when i am connecting remotely.

I would love to share my settings Polygonstate. I'll post screen grabs when v-ray is done calculating another view of the same project. The render times are pretty high. I am rendering them over night because I am more concerned about quality and not speed for this one.

I really like the view and overall feel of the space.
The white ceiling material looks great, too.
What is your camera's Z height?
The rendering quality is great, as well!
Ok, well, my crits are here...
-right 2 near columns and the ones by the windows seem to have same mapping
-not really liking the floor material, (maybe it's scale, not sure.)
-Same comment for the wood planks in the ceiling (same material as floor?)
-stone looks good, but try to roughen up those corners they look sharp.
-If those 2 nice looking pendants are supposed to be on, I'd brighten them up some.
-maybe can't tell, but those wine glasses look really tiny?
-those chairs in the foreground look cool, maybe show a bit more of one of them.
-all the brightness maybe the central area in front of the fireplace and Setees would be brighter?)

Nice work!

Critics:
Loose the DOF or reduce it dramatically.. It just looks un-naturally heavy & makes everything miniature. With wide angle lenses you don't get much dof!

Same comments as others about textures.

Try something bigger on the fire place mantle piece as this is the focal point.
