  • Ruthwood Living Room

This is my first image posting! I've been a vray user for about 7 months now. I'm still trying to get a good workflow when it comes to moving doors and windows.

    Hope its decent!

It's a start! Here is just what I think:

I find your camera angle odd, floating below the ceiling looking down.

Other than that, the windows and fireplace need a fair bit of work. It currently looks like they are posters sticking on the wall which is kind of true because you mapped images behind the windows and onto the wall (for the fireplace). It will need more 3D in order to start looking realistic. Also window reflections would be nice..

Also one can tell you have lit the room with a vray light place because it gets dark just under the ceiling. So you might either hide the dark stripe under the ceiling or - my preferred option - go for a different lighting technique alltogether (downlights, light fittings, sun shining in etc...).

Wall texture in the foreground is odd. You might also consider a bit of depth of field to blur that wall bit.

A few more details would be good. Like skirting boards or window handles.

    Hope that helps!
    Stefanie

      agree with drawehn

for me the light doesnt lit natural way...avoid using vraylight inside the living room especialy using a huge vraylight plane.
try approach natural light sources from outside lit up the space
for me i will use a directlight or vrysun hit thru the windows. and put vraylight fit all the windows area as ambient light that casting from outside.

and the wooden floor tiling is odd..too big?

check out this tutorial links..pretty handy to understand the concept of it hope its help

Ok, so after much playing with lights, which lights do you guys use for lets say a simple highhat? In this sample scene (let me know if it looks better), I used a PhotometricLight, w/ VrayShadow, Uniform Spherical Emit Light from - Line w/ a VRAY Sun at multiplier of .13, and a regular camera not a v-ray camera. I find it very difficult putting non-vray light w/ vray sun and finding the correct multipliers w/ vray cameras.

ok rherman this lighting is better..but i see 2 different light highlights crashed together in the room logic i think if a daytime with an opening windows like this..i dun think u need switch on the light inside there..right? if switch on in real life the indoor light is will not noticeable right? hehe..wait i think i need to show u an example hehe hope its help...mayb gimme few hours later i get back here haha
there is some reason i hate to use vraycam because other than vraysun..others type of lights i need to boost crazy high amount of intensity @.@ stil finding a suitable setting to fit all this..anyone? haha

I'm not familiar with the LWF method. I looked it up and it referred to the gamma settings which I have learned about and just set. I noticed there is a checkbox Linear Workflow and when I press it, it makes the light bounce w/ color from other objects in the scene. Are you talking about the LWF checkbox w/ gamma or just the gamma adjustments?
