    good morning

it's a little test, which should show how one single light
(environment incl.) can affect a scene,
where both exterior & interior spaces have to be
    lit without additional artificial lighting.
    some corrections made in PS.

settings are low at this stage.
    allmost standard-max-mats (except. reflecting-mats).
    (still got problems with window-pane-glass)

    Very awesome test!! Congrat!
At last another image, where the background seemlessly fits to the scene!

    Best regards,

    Palee

ps: could you post some settings please & rendertime as well?

        hello,

thanks for the compliments & suggestions so far.

well the settings really are set very low:

        - 1st mult. @ 2.54 / 2nd mult. @ 1.0
        - low-preset @ HSph. sub./ Int. samp. 32/16
        - subd./depth 1/20 (no clou how it affects the rendering -> not tested this feature yet)

        no sampling / default startup-setting

        rendertime @ 800x600: about 2.5h on a 1400+AMD with 1.5Mb RAM

image above: down-scaled image from a 1754x1240 pic with Adp. sub. sampling (std-settings)

(for those who missed out the posting 'seasons in the sun':
        there's a hires-pic of the barcelona chair:

        warning: heavy-weight picture 7.7Mb)

            - subd./depth 1/20 (no clou how it affects the rendering -> not tested this feature yet)
try with subd./depth 1/20 cutted down to 1/5.
your rendertime will be cut to less than half, but the picture will be much darker.
so how to compensate for the lesser bounces, to get the same quality?

did you use any color mapping?

            nice pic, btw

              Really nice!
              Single direct w/skyllight?
What the mult on the direct (or whatever) and the skylight (if any)

i guess his last words were. "whats that white light?"

And speaking of light. really nice scene. Did you use interpolated glossy reflections or just normal ones? the chairs look like you have used Glossys on them

                  hello there,

                  - yup, it's a direct-light source with an environment color set to
                  a bright blueish tone.
                  - the colormapping is set to exponential (not affecting the background)
                  - yes, i made use of the glossy-function here, but instead of using a vraymaterial (interpolated),
i apllied a vraymap to the reflection slot
                  of the max-mats respectively.

some words about the mults.: emm.... i was just trying around =)
so no deeper explanation on this...

@oconv : thanks for the tip. have to try that out the next time.
@all : thanks for positive feedback

                  so long
                  ale

its been a long time since ive actually used a standard material. Are the glossy relfections in the vray maps faster than intropolated glossy reflections of the lastest vray materials?
