Check the Erco Material and kill all the raytrace maps there...

Your first diffuse bounce multiplier is set to 10.0 and your second is set to 1.0... I would set the first to 1.0 and the and the second to 0.75... I know you set it up because it is too dark... so what do you do when things are too dark?... you turn up the lights... basically rather then mess with the multiplier which can cause artifacts like that when set over 1.0, mess with the multiplier on the lights. I sometimes have multipliers on lights in the 100's... BTW your rendertimes will also go way down, and your image will look better... extra bonus...

          cpnichols,

Thanks for the tips , I will definetely try them out in the morning at work....I have my VRay lights set to 1 or 2 ( i cant remember right now). The difference in the scene other than usual is that I am using erco photometric lights. For the first time I might add..The only control on the light is a spinner called "dimmer." Its default is set to 100. I had to raise the dimmers to 500 to get anything viewable in the window, and thats with 30 or so erco lights. That said, I will take your advice and just turn them up and reduce my 1st bounce multiplier. I agree some of the rendering times have been long about 20 minutes for a 720x486 image..

          Thanks again.

            Hey, Arkitec!
I hear a lot of people complaining about the Erco lights...Mostly because of not getting the effect they wanted. Why don't you try using simply the default photometric lights? Both Max and Viz come with some good web maps for lights, I think the'll do the trick!

              Hey Rick.....

What do you do about the actual fixture though...Are you modeling it? Exporting the luminaire from Lightscape....

This was a question I posted several weeks ago....

              Thanks for your time.

BTW: I raised the downlight dimmer multiplier this morning too 800, increased my VRay lights to 3.....Lowered my first diffuse bounce multiplier to 1 and second to .75.......Seems to have got rid of the artifacts. Ill post something when I get a chance today.

Thanks to everyone for the help....

Yes, Arkitec, I always model it (or use my own blocks). I found it easier to control and, most of all, less heavy on render (if such expression exists...).
I really don't enjoy using this kind of fixture by third party developers. I think they kind of hold you back regarding control and other possibilities.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing your new image!

                  Here is an update image....

Changed the preset map to MEDIUM.....Any constructive criticism?

Next project I plan on modeling my own light fixtures and using the photometric lights within Viz....
