  • Chair in the Sun

    Hi everyone!

Here is a render I did for fun over the holiday weekend. I probably should have been out in the sun, but I had fun re-creating it instead...I'm such a geek...anyways, Enjoy!

    Comments and suggestions are appreciated.

I like the image and especially rooftops, are these all modeled seperately or how did you do that?

            Thanks for the comments.

The roof tiles are modeled, the stucco is displaced and I used a V-Ray camera.

Really nice... just a few comments, if you don't mind that could push it a little further IMHO....

1- the shadow seems a little off. It may be too soft, or too hard... I think it could be a little softer... basically it looks artificial right now.
2- the chair could use more resolution in the fabric, I can see some faces which is distracting.
3- the fractal pattern on the gutter looks bad to me. It makes it look like some cheap plastic. I would use some real textures (not procedural) to give it some dirt and/or grime near the edges.
4- I would paint in some dirt near the edges of the floor... the general texture looks great, it just needs some edge detailing.
5- handrail looks too regular... it could use some more design, and maybe some beveling.

like I said... all good, simple feeling... looks and feels like summer in southern europe.

Thanks for the comments. This render is a recreation of my apartment balcony.

                  Cpnichols...

                  1. The shadows were actually a bit sharper in real life.
                  2. I agree completely
                  3. I used a photo grime map of pealing paint on the gutter...NO PROCEDURALS cause I don't like them. I'll work on making it better though.
                  4. I agree
                  5. Modeled as closely to the original as possible. Design wise they are pretty bland, but I'm just being true to the real thing.

I appreciate the help. I'll work on making those things better!
