  • vray dirt as good as occlusion texture?

    Hello there,

I saw this nice image (first one) on the new modo 5.01 web presentation and it inspire me for this little test. I just want to achieve this beautifully shader effect.
In the second image i was really happy with the material settings. But ... look at the next picture. Were is the nice shader gone?
All i've done is switch from dmc imagesampler min=1 and max=4 to min=1 and max=32.
This killed the effect nearly complete.
So i call my new beautifully shader unstable. It is depending on dmc sampler settings.
Any other suggestion to archive this effect?

You need to increase the VRayDirt subdivisions to get the effect back, or use the Adaptive Subdivision image sampler.

The correct way to construct such a shader is to use VRayDirt itself directly as diffuse or reflection color texture, rather than as a mask.

    Best regards,

Thanks for your reply! Use it as a mask is the only problem? The heavy touch of the output from vraydirt with the color correction map will cause no problems? Okay. I will try that and post a test later.
