  • RailClone Pro 1.1.0 rendering test

    Hi,

This is a sample scene that we have created to test the new features of RailClone Pro 1.1.0 beta. This version adds support for proxies and high-poly objects in VRay, converting on the fly the cloned elements to native VRay instances.

The render stats were 3'06", 3.7 Gb.RAM, rendering a geometry of virtually hundreds of millions faces.

Definitely a great feature/reason to upgrade from the free version (which is also great). Now I just need to worry about funds .

Yes, using two nested RailClone objects: one for rows, and using it as source for other RC object. You may create different patterns using start/end/evenly rules, and applying random transformations.

I've attached a sample scene, to create the pavement as shown in the render above. It works with RailClone Lite 1.03.

You can see the Generative Components demo for other examples of RailClone nesting:

Hey Carlos, how does it know what it can and can't instance?

Once the object is built, RailClone identifies what pieces doesn't need to be deformed and instances them. This process is automatic and transparent to the user, but by default it always create instances from segments with Bend and Slice parameters to off, and proxies.

As exception, the Segments with the 'Nest' parameter enabled cannot be instanced.

We have included in the beta a debug mode, to identify visually from the render what pieces are instanced:

            1) Set seed value to 9999
            2) Apply to the RailClone object a Multi-sub material, which include a material with ID = 100

The instances will be rendered using the Material ID 100.

In the attached sample image, you can see how the pieces that don't require deform or slice are rendered in blue color.

PD: Since this is an interesting question to optimize the scenes, i will copy the reply in the Itoo Software beta forum.
