Here is a project that fell on my desk Wednesday morning. I got plans from the architect and a site photo from the owner.

The image is done, but comments and suggestions for next time are welcome.

and you only finished it now!? You're loosing your touch Bobby.

That is pretty quick and it looks pretty good. I'd say it's one of your better ones you've done recently. It's actually very, very good. Only thing that gives it away is the transition between the footpath and the rest of the sand/grass. The sand seems dark (maybe wet asif it rained the previous day), but the footpath seems dry like it never rained there, ever. I think the contrast between the 2 is just too much. Or at least if that is the way you want it, just make the transition less errr hmmm gradienty? Not sure how to explain it but I think you know what I mean. It doesn't look to bad further up the path, but in your face in the bottom corner the sand just seems transparent or not transitioning realisticaly. (I'm not saying I would have done it better)

I like your trees in front of the house very much. Looks very real. Are the ones in the background also 3D or is that a jpg? Also the little twig thing in the foreground I like very much.

You've out done yourself once again Bobby. Congratulations, excellent job!

Maybe photochop a guy on the porch drinking coffee

You sure get a lot of private work and it seems to be piling up. Why you still at your day job doing grey override renders?

      Thank you!

I applied a diffused glow, which might have effected the path to much. All the trees are 3D, they come from the iCube iTree vol 4 collection.

Maybe someday I'll walk from the day job... I was kinda hoping to get fired so I can get a severance

Id drop the glow... and work on grass a lot more... a lot more noise in terain looks bit flat... eee a lot better path to the house, both model and texture...and maybe a little bit more orange in highlights?

          Other than that looks nice

This is great, really really like it.

I agree about the grass needing a bit more work, colour-wise it looks very lush and vibrant and yet is quite sparse because you can still see the soil, which is odd.

Your trees look great, are they bought models or something like Onyx? I'm guessing the background ones are a jpeg, if they aren't then wow that's even better!

Not sure I like the bush with depth of field at the front, makes it seem like your hiding in the bushes spying on the house! haha

            Really nice work, well done!

              Really nice work Bobby!
My only crits are grass/path could use work and the roof shingles look odd only at a couple of spots...on the small shed roof and on the main roof, just to the right of that shed roof.
The shakes look great, but in a couple of areas are quite shiny, like they were treated with polyurethane. The iTrees look great, too, maybe throw in some trees other than Firs?
The lighting and sky are also really nice, keep up the good work.

I agree about the grass and path, they need more work for sure, the HDRI sky plays very well there as well as the trees... I usually don't put birds and it's almost your signature, but I would take them out!!...it's almost like taken the perfect picture at the right time that looks fake!.
when I just to work designing projects in China, we had some people there sometimes working on renderings, and they have almost all the elements that you can find in and scene that really looks subreal.a lot birds, perfect sky, perfect water( the river was almost black but they wanted blue), dogs walking on the streets by themself, etc...the projects were in china but they want to show caucasian people.

I would have loved to have spent more time on the path, but I only had a day. I'll probably revisit the scene for my portfolio when I get some time. I use a roof plug-in and low pitched roofs are problematic, I did notice the issue on the shed roof. I tried to blend the birds in, almost not noticeable, but I guess the scene can do without them.

Well, it's still really good, especially for one day turnaround!
Are you using Batzal RD? I got it, but never got around to getting good with it...

Yes. It is really easy to use and works great, as long as the roof pitch isn't to low .

Bobby, this is great! I agree with the comments on the path, but the lighting looks nice and the landscaping/environment looks fantastic. To me the thin grass doesn't distract enough to make it worth spending a lot more time on, and in some places grass really DOES grow very thin. Great work for a quick turnaround job! keep it up!
