I've done nothing to it. But you have to pick the right mapping method, but that depends on how your hdri map looks.

Ps. there is no need to both post here and send me personal messages.

          Amazing work Thomas!!

          Your cars really rocks!!

the only question i have is why you use so much reflection glossyness on your 307 paint? i´ve seen it on the street but i don´t see any glossyness (just a doubt, i think it REALLY looks great).

And thanks for your inspiration, you can´t imagine how many people i know start modelling cars because of you.

Hate to rehash old topics here, but I need to model a car and noticed that Thomas is the car god reincarnate. So why not go to the source.

Just two questions for you- how long does it take you to model an 'average' car? Secondly, how do you get your front and rear lights looking so realistic? Is it several objects overlayed or some vodoo texture you are using?

there used to be a tutorial floating around on the net that explained how to do car lights with realistic results. i'll try and find it for you if u want juju...

EDIT: Rooted around and found it for ya, give it a try if you want, I dunno what Suurland did but it works pretty well for me.

                yes that image is stunning...

But I agree that the car paint material is its only weakness. At extreme incidence angles, the top coat should produce pretty crisp, clear reflections, but it doesn't appear to.

Hey Psy- thanks for your help. But I cant seem to find a posted link for that car light tutorial. I googled around and came up empty- some other methods but nothing that didn't look too impressive.

Btw, how long does it take for an average person to model a photorealistic car? And how long does it take for a skilled person? Any opinions?

Typical stupendous work from you, Thomas. The modeling, the detailing, the understated but great lighting...

As other's have noted, too bad VRay can't do paint- yet- ... or maybe I'm the only one waiting for it (along with glass glass).

                          Great rendering Thomas

I just have one question about the paint surface:

Do you check the fresnel option in the reflection parameters or do you use a falloff ramp to have more control?

                          Thanks,

                          Keep on rocking

                          Matt.

It's funny how this thread from july resurface..

I know some of you don't really like the metalic on this car but this is what Peugeot wanted.

                            @Matt333: I used falloff.
