  • Cayman Islands Flythrough - WIP

    Hi,

It's been a while since we posted any work on here so thought we'd share what we're currently working on.

You can watch it here: Cayman Islands Flythrough

    Here's a few still frames:

It's a flythrough for a villa on Grand Cayman and it would be good to get some feedback from the community, before we incorporate our client's comments and render at full quality to remove the noise etc...

    Cheers,
    Olly

Very tasty, only comment the shadow of the moving palm on the wall is a bit rough...

ha...all that beauty and excellent interior design and great sound track and then there...for just a nanosecond...tucked into a corner in the kitcken, is a standard dumpy (at least in this environment) refrig. Oh well. Nice work. When can i move in?

Thanks for the kind words everyone.

simon123 rest assured the shadows we'll be cleaned up in the final version.

Currently working on optimising the frame times...

          Cheers,

Stunning! Love how clean, crisp and clear everything looks at the begining, but it does get noisier as time goes on. I'm not too keen on the tree blowing around quite so much in the bedroom scene, I think a little less would work well without looking like a storms a comin'

Interested to see any setup info for those early scenes if you care to share...

              Thanks PGD.

We're definitely going to slow down the trees, a few people have commented on the speed.

We'll share a few bits when the job's all done.

              Cheers,

Nicely paced and I would say it is taking some amount of inspiration for the 3rd and the 7th (or whatever its called) - but then again, aren't we all The opening shot is really nice.

My main comment would be the lack of mood/atmosphere/contrast accross the whole animation. I totally understand that this is probably the clients wish - they want to see it all nice and clean and bright. I prefer a more cinematic style with a greater dynamic between light and shadow. I think one of the ways the 3rd and 7th has succeeded so well is that there was no client telling Alex what to do. He could just do what he wanted, and as it happens, his eye/style is something that is enjoyed by most - if not all - of us on this forum. If a client had got hold of it, they'd have asked for the whole thing to be brighter and 'happier'!

Also, though the camera movements are all calm, it might be nice to break away from the strict pace of truck/pan/dolly shots you have used, and add something a bit different to break it up slightly.

Architectural animations are always difficult, as nothing actually moves in the scene. You have used the shadows of the trees to add some movement which works well.

                Very good sir!
                Kind Regards,
                Richard Birket

                  Great work, this is sweet!
I am wondering why around 2:48 only the palms suddenly stop blowing, but otherwise I agree with previous posts and really like it!

It's hard not to be inspired by Alex Roman's film, I think most arch viz artists felt the bar had been raised when that was posted. We've worked hard to create something that stands up in it's own right, hopefully that comes across!

Well spotted, we hadn't set the "out of range" correctly, all fixed now though.

We'll post an update as soon as we've incorporated our client's comments...

What trees did you use to get them swaying in the wind?
