Thanks Eyebee. Always nice to meet a satisified customer!

Inspiring work! I love the furniture shots the most, with so much detail to explore.

                Amazing models and rendering Bertrand!
I know it is small in the big picture, but your window glass is excellent.

edit: Too bad about BRIX; it is so great, I don't want to give it up in order to upgrade to 2012

                  Thanks guys. much appreciated.

Voltron: I know! I don't know the ins and outs of the Brix affair, but it is a great shame that such a beautiful piece of code, with no equivalent I know of (very happy to be proven wrong), is being left to rot.

Martin Jann from Materialwerk had this to say when I e-mailed him asking for the 2012 version (this is not the full mail, I only paste the relevant part):

"sorry for being absent with the website. My business partner and myself split up and
we are currently in the process of liquidating the company.

Dieter Finkenzeller will be the new owner of the software code and might or might not
release a new version. I personally can´t do anything in regards to supporting Max 2012."

I e-mailed Dieter yesterday but no reply so far. With the Brix website as well as the news letter being inactive for a long time I'm not holding my breath. It's funny you think it's a shame about the development being in halt.. having bought Brix early last winter, about 2 months before the website went down, I wouldn't be as subtle with my choice of words. How much was it again, like 250EUR? for a product with the lifespan of less than a year? NICE.

Yeah, I got a similar email from Dieter months ago, but was asked to keep it private. Thanks for the update, at least a glimmer of light for BRIX.
The plugin is probably the best/most useful, bug free one I've ever purchased for 3dsMax and I hope it does not die.
(It easily paid for itself in the first 2 projects it was a part of.)

Yes, Dieter is very much aware of the enormous interest in getting a working 2012 version. I'm quite optimistic we'll get there eventually. Big shame it came to this, though. But these things happen, especially in as litigious a country as Germany, and they are hard to judge from the outside.

Sorry, but these things happen anywhere. Due to personal circumstances...
Nevertheless i hope Brix will come back to life as i just wanted to purchase it.

                          regards,

what may go wrong in a business relationship it's surely something for the parties involved to know, but I find this being a bit of a sweeping generalization.. I don't think that germans are more prone to break up businesses any more than any other people in the EU

I'm German, by the way, lest there be any misunderstanding.
But I've lived in quite a few different countries and only found such a propensity to sue in the US.
One objective reason for this is that most Germans have a Rechtschutzversicherung, or legal insurance, which means that in most cases it costs people nothing to sue or to defend themselves when sued. Such insurance policies are not so frequent in other countries and they clearly encourage litigation.

I'm by no means an expert in these matters, but you make a valid point. I have very good friends living in germany, and I must admit I've never heard of a widespread use of this form of insurance.
