Okay, still trying to get used to making materials in Rhino's editor... Most of my renders from within Rhino were done in RenderMan that uses scripted external materials, so this is all a little new to me.

Nothing spectacular atm, as time allows I will add to the model and mapping. Here is a simple GI render using one light, a "skylight" and a pure white material. A standard Ceramic style rendering.

There seems to be an anomaly on the head, still trying to figure out what is causing it, it doesn't show up in any non VRay renders from within Rhino.

would it be possible for us to look at that model? Its the only way I can really check on that anomaly. Please email it to me if you don't mind. I can assure you we won't use it for anything other than testing. Thanks

Problem is the size of the damn thing, its about 53.9MB (30MB when saved small). This is mostly due to very tight mesh tolerance because of the small fillet edge operations...

If you'd like I can export the problematic area, and as soon as I can get an ftp or something up you can have the model as well.

exporting the problem area is fine as well. Please email it to me if you can. Thanks

            Thanks, more renders coming soon...

To be honest the actual render didn't take long (maybe 4-8 mins with GI calc), it was the wait before the render starts that took long. But I would note that Joe said he has found the problem and has fixed it, so I expect faster renders in the next build.

yessir, the tessellation process has been streamlined to be as fast as Rhino can dump those meshes off to me. Also the need to process the geometry table for each render has been resolved. I hope this makes all of your work flow easier. Thanks for sticking through the problems

Now renders in 2 mins flat with same scene setup. Just getting the hang of setting up some metal materials, I'll post some new renders soon.

Okay, here are some basic test renders. I had to resort to a splitting parts of the model to different layers depending on their colors so that I could edit them more easily.

On average each render has taken about 5-6mins tops, including GI Calc and Tessellation, model is about 2257882 polys. Scene setup consists of 1 light and GI.

I will render more images as time permits.

Nice renderings! Fix the background and you have a perfect image.

                        Thanks!

Going to put it in an underground parking lot, that should setup a good ambience...

Thanks, material is just basic. Select an orange color for the diffuse slot, pure white for the reflections slot and turn on fresnel reflections, that's all I did.

To get the white reflection I made a large rectangular vraylight at a 45 degree angle in front of it, VRay handles the rest.
