  • First Render-Vray Ring

OK, first post and first render. Just got the beta and first time using Vray. Still learning all the ins and outs, but impressed so far with results and speed.
    Comments and constructive criticism welcome...

not quite sure but did you turn on "GI" under the "indirect illumination" rollout?
because honestly i cannot see any gi at all,

    other things you might consider:

    - turn off the default light option under the "global switches" rollout and create a 3 light studio setup on your own

    - turn on caustics ( search for tutorials on that one to learn about the settings )

    - create an enviroment to get some reflections on that metal e.g. with a sperical map which can be applied to the scene by inserting it into the background texture slot under the enviroment rollout. Try it with pictures with an aspect ratio of 2:1, the should work fine. Do not use very large pictures here eg. 6000x3000, because i made the experience that they sometimes come out black, so try smaller resolutions first.
