I wanted to try various lighting conditions. Here we go:

    1. GI skydome. Clean but boring.

    2. Spotlight with soft edges. Added nice yellowish color tone to blue skydome light and also hard shadow.

    3. Area light. Shadow gets blurry with distance..

    4. HDRI lighting. Nice soft yet contrast look and feel. Shadow depends on "light source" in HDRI map so it?s hard to tell how it will look like and what will be it?s direction. Anyway, is it possible to rotate HDRI in V-Ray?

    5. This is interesting. I used the same HDRI map as in previous image but this time I raised map brightness from 0.25 to 0.35. Notice the difference in rendering times. Does it really depend on map brightness? Seems so...

    Pif,

There are some strange white artifacts showing up on your edges. Do you have Affect Background enabled under your color mapping settings? If not enable it s try rendering again and lets see what happens.

    Nice works.

The first one has the best lighting IMHO. (the others look more CG)
