    Simple impressiv.

PS: Please, could you post the settings or the link to your "making of" post (I can not find it again)?

Thank you for the link. I have the feeling, you have used a new combination of parameters here. Any hints?

            Thanks Chris
Yeah, its familiar, it is actually a good test scene because it includes a number of difficult aspects in one place. (eg. blurry reflections, antialiasing potential, reflective caustics, caustic definition and clarity as well as caustics interacting with blurry reflections)

I am still not an expert in Vray, so this image took a little while to render.

beautiful ...I like the small "bump" detail at the bottom of glass cups.

Hi Thomas- Very nice setup and DOF... It looks llike you are running into those 'clamped' colors maybe on the bowl sides where it is a hard outlined white area? Maybe that is a rectangular plane- at any rate, the reflection is a bit harsh compared to the rest of the image. Anyway, I like the colors and shadow and the cropping- quite a natural feel to it all.

Micha: Thanks In the next image there will be a close-up of these cups (they have more detail that we can't see in this image)

Pascal: Those must be the reflector planes of the studio setup (the brighter light on the bowl is the emitter itself) ... but I always uncheck the color "clamping" option (not very fond of it ). I agree it seems a bit harsh and I was wondering what to do about it, but on the other hand the bowl didn't have much character without them either. What would you suggest ?

Oh yeah- the hard part... I sometimes light a panel obliquely so that it doesn't have a flat, constant glow, or apply a gradient bitmap to it. I think a hard white area is ok on a reflective surface but it just seems a quite large in this image and flattens the surface right there. But I am nit-picking, it is a very nice image...

Added a second test scene with glass and caustics.
This was done using the Caustics rollout tab, but I see the right hand cup is not bright enough (it looks clearer and brighter when using GI caustics alone) ... i will have to test this one some more.
