Special Thanks to Micha for his starter kit. The image based lighting bit really makes a difference. I'm still trying to figure out what the rest of the settings in his setup do.
I textured it using spherical mapping for most of the elements. I generated the textures in Photoshop. I don't remember exactly what I did in Photoshop. I think I started with a gradient, then added a noise filter then used a wind filter to get the streaky look. The spout was painted on a separate layer and then I did a series of test renders, moving the layer each time until it was in the right place. It worked fine because the teapot is so simple. It would be great if future versions of Vray would allow you to export uv maps as image files.
I'm having a bit of trouble with another project. A laptop with metallic paint. Anyone have any good examples?
You can try these settings. I was literally going for a brushed metal look here, but I'm sure you can use this as a starter and make it look more like paint. Hope this helps.
MISHA the topic about starter kit does not exist.
I see that there is some non public forum.
I have only demo, but my job is interior design, and becose i have problems with gi and lightning i bumped on other topic where you said that there is tutorial and settings obout that in non public forum.
I realy need that so i could evaluate this product.
So far i see that it is very good.
Thanks
